We've upgrade the Sensor Shield to Version 7 (V7) from Sensor Shield V6.
It is compatible with Arduino UNO, Arduino Leonardo, Arduino DUE, Arduino Mega and Arduino Duemilanove.
Why uprading?
Arduino now has I2C interface besides the AREF pin. We updated our shield to adopt that change. Meanwhile, we also made it compatible with old Arduino board such as Arduin Duemilanove.
What improved?
Compared with Arduino Sensor Shield V6,
- Make I2C interface compatible with more Arduino boards.
- The output power pin could switches between 3V3 and 5V.
- To be compatible with Arduino DUE, reset circuit has been changed.
The switch in the blue box could change voltage output (5V or 3V3) of those pins in the purple box above.
Since 5V TTL and 3V3 TTL are compatible with each other, it is no problem if you connect them together, only if the 3V3 pin could be 5V-tolerant. Most 3V3 sensor chips is tolerant of 5V TTL.
This soldering pads is to connect the I2C interface to Arduino A4 and A5 pins. As is known to all, old Arduino boards such as Arduino Duemilanove or Arduino UNO V1 don't have I2C interface besides the AREF pin. For those board, users could connect those pads with soldering tin. Note that those pads are specially designed for soldering bridge. It is very easy to connect them together.
